Dear Parents/Guardians:  WELCOME!

 

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for visiting your child’s Visual Arts class. I’m very excited about the chance to get to know you and be your child’s teacher. I am looking forward to a happy and productive school year. 

 

Local/State/National Standards:

 

The Art curriculum in this course follows the Clay County, State of Florida Next Generation Sunshine Standards, and the National Visual Arts Standards for K-6 students. In addition, my lessons are inspired by a cutting-edge educational concept called “STEAM”, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.  For more information, you may also see the complete syllabus and standards information on my website under the heading: “Visual Arts Program Overview”.

 

Class Description: 

 

This class will provide various experiences while using art materials, encourage students to become diverse and critical thinkers, and develop a foundation of knowledge in the visual arts.

  •                                                                                                

  • Students Will Be Able To:

  • Understand, Use, Generate, and Develop Visual Communication, Production, and Aesthetics.

  • Describe, Discuss, and Identify Cultural Context/Art History.

  • Explain, Demonstrate, and Identify Judgment/Criticism.

  • Apply and Display high order and critical thinking skills for problem solving.

  • Respond to and Explain orally and in writing about research-based discoveries.

 

 

 

Grading Policy:

 

Artwork/Projects 50%                                                           Studio Work 25%  

Class participation   20%                                                       Tests 5%                                                                                                                                                                                                                

Expectations for students:

 

To come prepared to each class.

To participate in classroom activities.

To be respectful of others and their property.                                                                                                

To follow school/classroom rules accordingly.                                                                                     

To do the best they can!
